Welcome to Nyoongin, Melbourne United’s new Indigenous Grassroots Coaching Program. Delivered by Melbourne United and the Koorie Basketball Academy, the program is built on the pillars of Nganyim… to play and Nyoongin… to belong.
Providing assistance to basketball coaches at the grassroots level across regional Victoria, Nyoongin will feature a series of workshops with the aim of upskilling coaches.
Through workshops designed and run by Melbourne United, in conjunction with Rick Baldwin and the Koorie Basketball Academy, Indigenous coaches will learn how to teach the fundamental tools and skills of the game while developing the techniques to lead and those around them get the best out of their players.
Featuring lessons on offensive and defensive strategies, Nyoongin will not only create a pathway for improvement, but lay the foundation for coaches to build their own programs for the future.
